This was the third time The National have played at the Mann Center in Philadelphia, and we have attended all three. They supported R.E.M. on June 18, 2008, which was our first ever time seeing them. Their second show at the venue was on June 7, 2013 in support of Trouble Will Find Me. Both of those shows were excellent, but this one was even more special.
We had second row pit and I could tell that Matt was getting ready to jump off the stage. There was an empty seat in the front row, just to my right, and I took the opportunity to climb over it and ended up singing a line of Guilty Party with him. Such an amazing night and the crowd was able to press up against the stage for Vanderlyle to end the show.
